It can be very difficult to understand why a person can’t just “Look on the bright side”, “See all the wonderful things you have to live for”, or “Just change the way you think”. Sometimes the root causes of a person’s depression are so strong the person can barely focus on getting out of bed in the morning, looking on the bright side is far too great a task.
